Winter mountain escapes

Purcell Mountain lodge sees deep snowfall and consistent cold temperatures, blessing us with tons of champagne powder. Safety is our top priority, skiers will attend a safety briefing to practice avalanche rescue skills and discuss safe travel. Many of the best tours involve multiple ascents of different peaks and can measure 1400-2000m vertical meters of climbing and skiing.

Each trip is unique and customized, based on weather, snow conditions and group ability. Expert guides create ideal tours to suit all ability levels. In challenging snow conditions there is always great snow stashes to be found in protected areas and many different aspects.

Purcell Mountain Lodge offers a truly unique backcountry skiing experience, with exceptional world class snow and varied terrain. Let’s go places. The mountains are calling! Der Berg Ruft!

Intro to Powder & First Time Family Trips

New skiers will find challenges in the mountains and alpine meadows around the lodge. There are ample gentle slopes in all directions and perfect for casual telemark turns and snowshoeing, or introducing younger skiers to the backcountry. Adventure awaits just out the front door and fantastic terrain to suit all abilities.

Signature Pure Ski Mountaineering

Adventurous skiers will combine longer runs, numerous ascents and descents into big days in bigger mountain ranges. Stepping it up a notch sees us skiing gentle alpine slopes leading into well spaced glades a short tour from the lodge. Some guests may choose to spend their days here while the more adventurous will pursue the open slopes of Copperstain mountain and Ptarmigan. These runs can include 2600m summits and 700m runs!

Deep & Steep for Advanced Skiers

For Advanced skiers, when the snow stability allows, there are steep 40 degree pillow lines, and steep open bowls. The Espresso bowl, Gargoyle, Long Overdue, Yurt Face, Wolverine andCorner Pocket are some runs that only get skied occasionally, but get remembered for a longtime. Ski mountaineers can challenge themselves on the ridge walks of Porcupine Peak and theGrizzly Valley. The guides are still figuring out some of the lines, and our access to Glacier national park means there is really no limit to our exploration. Last year alone several new runs were added to the map, such as Full Moon, The Quill and Infinity.

It was a wonderful experience in a most fantastic mountain location. While we snowshoed others went back country skiing. The area is unbelievably beautiful and we were able to explore limitless terrain creating first tracks wherever we went.

Starting with a scenic helicopter ride, our entire stay at Purcell was awesome. The views are breathtaking... we’ve hiked in many beautiful places in North America and Europe, but none like this. The flower filled meadows with incredible views of the Selkirk mountains are unparalleled.

Crisp mountain air paired with endless views

The beautiful hikes and endless views continue into the Autumn. Seeing the changing colours of the landscape transform while feeling the crisper mountain air is why fall in the Purcell Mountains carries its own unique value. September and October is the ideal time for spotting wildlife right on the doorstep or welcoming the sun rising from the wrap-around veranda.

As the crowds of summer bookings fade away, this is the prime time to organize an event. Smaller gatherings will continue to be the norm in favour of larger event spaces. Escape the masses and reap in all of Mother Nature's glory at this time of year. Our off the grid location is a perfect venue for a wedding, corporate retreat, celebration and other private event.
