Purcell Lodge in the News
After 17 years, Purcell Mountain Lodge is finally beginning to be "discovered" by "investigative" journalists, and the media in general. We are always surprised how low long it takes to be recognized when you are the "new" kid on the block, but we have been quite successful in exploring the "patience is a virtue" aspect of stress free living in the interim. Some of our recent coverage includes:
- Our latest guide book coverage is contained in the BBC coffee table book Unforgettable Things To Do Before You Die published by Firefly Books and written by Steve Watkins and Clare Jones. We join a short list of 40 other stunningly unique destinations, chosen to provide the reader with a shopping list of incredible immersion holiday ideas, in many far flung corners of the globe.
- Canmore, Alberta based writer and solo explorer Jerry Kobolenko has visited the lodge many times, and he writes about his very first experience at the Lodge in Explore Magazine (May 2005).
- British Columbia Magazine (Fall 2006) highlights our commitment to sustainability in their feature on Green Lodges. In their estimation, Purcell Mountain Lodge is "A marvel of enviromental efficiency perched amid rolling alpine meadows".
- US based Energy Times (Sept 2006) also highlights PML as a vacation getaway that is sure to keep the eco-sensitive among us happy. This article provides a behind the scenes glimpse at the owner-built hydroelectric system supplying the Lodge with all of our power needs, our potable water and sewage treatment systems, as well as our commitment to composting and recycling.
- The premier issue of Canadian Geographic Travel (Nov 2006) hails the return of writer Jerry Kobalenko to the Lodge for a session of fall caretaking. He and his wife Sasha experience our winter wonderland, enjoying many scenic cross-country ski outings right from the lodge doors, in addition to some contemplative snowshoeing in this alpine wonderland. The magazine introduces many beautiful photos of the Lodge and the activities they enjoyed.
- After awaiting a trip to Purcell Mountain Lodge for several years, Seattle based writer Crai S. Bower visited us for a few days of powder and sunshine this past winter. You can find his article in the April 2007 edition of Seattle Conscious Choice or visit the website at http://www.seattle.consciouschoice.com/ .
We will endeavor to keep this space updated with information about any new media coverage as it develops.
